Can you explain to me the situation regarding the properties in North Cyprus. I have tried to research the subject but I obtain different information depending on if I look at Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot information. The Greek Cypriots say it is illegal to purchase property in Northern Cyprus. If we decide to purchase in Northern Cyprus, we need to be sure that any 'settlement' between the Turkish and Greeks will not affect the property we may own.

Dear Graham Corden,
The question that you asked me about the legality of property in North Cyprus needs an answer which all the world is trying to find since 1974. According to me and almost all people living in North Cyprus, the only way of solving the Cyprus Problem is "Global Compensation". All of us here are living in houses and lands which are pre-74 Greek. More than 30,000 "foreign nationality" people own property in North Cyprus. The great powers America, EU, UK, Turkey, Greece and two small governments on the island will compensate the people from the both sides by paying them money. It is impossible to solve the problem in any other way. Everybody is now investing in North Cyprus because they think in this way.
I can easily and safely say that there is 0% risk. As Turkish Cypriots, according to us, there is no risks on our land, because we believe that we already paid a higher price that we should. It was agreed to give some land back to Greek friends because we want peace and we accept that during the war in 1974 we got a generous share in comparison to our population. These lands are already announced and therefore these lands are not for sale on our website.
